Why filtration matters
A ventilation system is bringing outside air into the home. That air can contain fine particles from traffic, smoke, dust, pollen and other sources. The filter is the first line of defence between that incoming air and the living spaces.
Filtration also protects the fan and internal components from accumulating dust. A loaded or poorly maintained filter can restrict airflow, increase fan resistance and reduce system performance.
Choose your EVOAQ filtration
EVOAQ currently uses two filter-box configurations, with three filter or media options available depending on the system and the level of filtration required.
Basic F7 Filter
The basic EVOAQ filter media provides an entry-level filtration option used with compatible EVOAQ ventilation systems.

You will still hear ventilation companies talk about F7 filters, but F7 is an older classification from EN 779. The current ISO 16890 approach classifies filters according to their performance against particulate size ranges such as PM1, PM2.5 and PM10.
That matters because PM2.5 describes a particle size range that is directly relevant to fine airborne particulate pollution. It gives a more useful description of what the filter is designed to capture than simply repeating an old F7 label.
EVOAQ's primary PM2.5 media is specified as F7 equivalent. So the advantage is not that the words "PM2.5" magically make a filter better. The advantage is using a current particulate-based classification and designing the filtration around the particles we actually want to remove.
Choose the right secondary filter
HEPA screen
A HEPA screen provides an additional particulate filtration stage after the primary PM2.5 filter. This is a strong choice where the priority is further particle removal.
Activated carbon
Carbon is used for gases and odours rather than simply adding another particulate filter. It can be useful where outdoor odours or other gaseous pollutants are a particular concern.
The important point: filtration is a system, not just a single filter rating. Matching the filter stages to the home's environment gives a better result than choosing the biggest-sounding filter specification.
Filter replacement is designed to be simple
Inspect the filter 6 months after installation, then at least annually.
Replace at least every 2 years, or sooner if the filter is visibly loaded.
Install replacement media in the correct orientation and make sure there are no bypass gaps.
Premium Filter Boxes and Air Purification Boxes are designed so the filter media can be slid out and replaced. Basic F7 filter frames use a taped filter-media arrangement and require a different replacement procedure.
